A new north central Iowa ethanol plant will receive an $80 million federal grant to make ethanol from corn stalks, leaves and other plant material, the Department of Energy announced Wednesday.

By David Nilles. Ethanol Producer Magazine. The U.S. DOE today announced a round of grants expected to aid in the commercialization of cellulosic ethanol production. Six projects received funds aimed at developing cellulose biorefineries.
